Welcome to the West End Gallery
The West End Gallery proudly presents Prairie Aspects, a solo exhibition of new work by beloved realist W. H. Webb. This will be the feature exhibition for the Spring Gallery Walk weekend, taking place Saturday April 14 and Sunday, April 15. Please join Mr. Webb for a painting demonstration on Saturday, from 1 – 4 pm and Sunday from noon – 4pm.
Webb’s views of the often stark Alberta landscape are intensively worked in a manner reminiscent of the traditional school of watercolourists. Fully realized and meticulously crafted, his acrylic paintings express a deep seated admiration for the impressive and rugged vistas of Alberta; particularly the brilliant beauty of winter’s snow covered open spaces and hard bright skies. Exhibition continues through April 26. All Artwork subject to pre-sale.
“Viewers in front of my paintings most often remark that the first thing to strike them is the emotional impact of the painting. These responses seem to vary from emotional highs, déjà vu, to ‘it looks like a photo’. Regardless, the emotion appears to be the most powerful from what I am told. The second response is to the light in the painting and, of course, my paintings are all about emotion and light. If the viewer has felt the emotion I felt when I painted the piece, then we have clicked. “– W. H. Webb
