Sarah Mulligan

Canadian Glass artist Sarah Mulligan has been a glass blower for over 10 years. After completing her BA from the University of Western Ontario, Sarah decided to change direction and enrolled in the School of Craft and Design at Sheridan College. Three years later she graduated from the Glass Program and received the Special Faculty Award for excellence in glass. Sarah's work features simple design and clean lines with a commitment to craftsmanship. In 2005 Sarah moved to Victoria, BC where she continues to create a body of work that is both subtle and contemporary.

Just walking into a nice warm glass studio is enough to make my day, let alone having the opportunity to sit at the bench, take a gather of glass and make something of my own design. I usually have the history of glass in mind when i have projects to develop. I enjoy simple design, affection for colour and a clean aesthetic. With my design I hope to create purposeful items, which may be handled, used, enjoyed, or even broken and lost, but most of all loved. It is these items that stay with us throughout our lives, propagating and maintaining the appreciation and respect for those things handmade by crafts-persons in all mediums.
