Susan Gottselig

Susan Gottselig has studied at the Alberta College of Art and Design, Medical College of Georgia, and Niijima Glass Art Centre, Japan. She has earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree as well as a Masters in Science. She currently resides and produces work in Alberta and is featured in numerous galleries throughout Alberta and British Columbia.

I have always had an intrinsic need to create - a need as essential to me as air and water. My work reflects my response to concepts and concerns that connect people to each other as well as each of us to our world. Ideas for my work arise from my personal experiences and perceptions of life, and like life, these ideas can be joyful or disturbing. I use images that reference the human figure to interpret the actions and interactions of life. Gesture and motion are of particular importance to me, and explorations in this area included expressions of the whole figure as well as components of it. I am also interested in portraying images of nature from my immediate environment in the Rocky Mountains and from my travels throughout the world.
