Sylvie Belanger

Sylvie was born in Montreal, Quebec and has studied her craft extsensively at CEGEP Vieux-Montreal, Université du Quebec, Montreal, and Université Laval, Quebec. She is constantly searching in technique and inspiration to create her unique pieces. She researches the shapes of weapons and hunts through second-hand shops for finds to include. Sylvie shows her decorative objects - bowls, candleholders, cups and plates - at American glass shows twice a year and also shows at museums, shops, and galleries across Canada. Sylvie Bélanger and Diane Ferland formed Cassandre Glass Studios in 1997.

My work combines the techniques of sandcasting and solid glass. I enjoy shaping and manipulating the glass still hot, either in the sand mould or on the punty. This way, I can achieve maxiumum expression and movement.
