Carole Arnston

Carole was born in 1954 in Toronto, Ontario. She is a West Coast-based artist with a multi-faceted background in design.  The past fifteen years has proved oil painting to be a responsive medium to the powerful messages of the  landscape.  Arnston has built on the abstract impressionist influences of Bonnard, Frankenthaler, Joan Mitchell and Georgia O’Keefe to develop her own style of lyrical abstraction.  From her studio perched amongst tall cedar trees with ocean vista, she is immersed in the verdant growth of rainforest and exposed to the subtleties of changing skies and rhythms of soft westerly winds and rains.  Hikes into the local mountains, forests and meadows, and kayaking up the north coast provide the sublime liberation and sensual joy that inspires all her work.
