Kathleen Black

Kathleen received a BFA degree at the University of Manitoba before going on to study various glass techniques at Red Deer College, Alberta. She works in a glass working technique known as Pâte de Verre which involves making a paste of crushed glass that is applied to a mold, then fired. This gives her pieces a unique, multifaceted texture, perfect for reflecting light.

I have worked at many things; from the fun of teaching swimming and first aid, the excitement of nursing in an Emergency Department, the joy of teaching art, community nursing to the privilege of cancer care nursing. My images come from this intimate contact with people of all ages and backgrounds in health and crisis. I have a unique interest in the human body and the psyche's responses to life.
