Annabelle Marquis studied Fine Arts at C.E.G.E.P St. Laurent College and Graphic Arts at C.E.G.E.P Ahunstic. On completion of her schooling, Annabelle devoted six years to graphic arts and illustrations before concentrating on painting. An increasing desire for artistic freedom encouraged her to exhibit for the first time in 2006. The exhibition was a huge success as her paintings capture her vibrant youth alongside her artistic maturity. Her artistic approach is deeply tied to colour and composition and the unique way she mixes collage with paint. Each painting is fresh and spontaneous, full of a 'joie de vivre'. Marquis' atmospheric abstract compositions entice the viewer with a dynamic interaction of forms, colours and textures. Her mix of collage with her expressive brushstrokes creates a sense of flowing fragmentation, work that is simultaneously organic and crystalline.
